NHS Islington Capital Refurbishment

River Place Health Centre, Goodinge Health Centre and Holloway Health Centre

Refurbishment of three PCT Premises

NHS Islington had planned to replace three existing health centres with new LIFT developments, but when PCT revenue resources became squeezed, decided to refurbish some buildings from PCT capital funds.

Community Solutions (CS) has carried out refurbishments to three NHS Islington Health Centres, with a total construction value of over £2.5m. All the projects have included works for backlog maintenance, infection control compliance and other statutory obligations, and for reconfiguration of accommodation to:

• improve the delivery of community health services

• provide additional clinical accommodation

All the health centres had to remain operational throughout the refurbishment works, so each required a detailed phasing plan to be agreed by all parties. For the second and third projects, reconfiguration and phasing was assisted by some services relocating to the newly-opened Holloway Community Health Centre developed by the LIFT Company.
